Normal Life

Oops!  I missed a week!  I think it was due to that "getting back to reality" adjustment after the holidays' thing.  Life is now back to our normal with work, school, church and the like.   I think this will be a "newsy" post since there is nothing else coming to my mind!

We got both college students back to their schools.  I only cried a little.  Is it so bad that I love being with them?  I do really like them. We had such a lovely break.  I  wish they could be here and at the same time I know I would never really want that.  I want them off making a life for themselves.  Who knows, maybe they will come back and live around here after graduation.

Our youngest started his last semester of high school and I have, as they say, "all the feels!"  First of all, I have senioritis which started last year when our daughter was a senior.  I am tired of school.  There, I said it.  Ha.  Thankfully, he is able to do it all on his own and he doesn't share my apathy.  He is expecting another college acceptance letter any day now.  He can basically go wherever he pleases with his good SAT score and grades.  Yay! Secondly, I find myself often thinking about how life will change when he is away at school.  I will be doing a chore and think, "Who will help me do this then?"  Please tell me I will be OK.  His leaving will be hard!!!  I am at the stage where I cling to each opportunity to do anything for him as it was my last chance.

Jeff has returned to work. He is doing so well. I am so thankful for this blessing.  I feel as if he is getting a second chance at life!!

We are enjoying a bit of a quiet weekend with all three children gone, our youngest being at a winter retreat.  It has been a lovely day at home doing as we please.  Maybe life after kids will be more pleasant than I fear?

Have a lovely week and do stop by again!  (Do you like my new coffee table?  The cats are not sure.)

  1. Hi Jenn,

YES! You will be fine and will roll with the change. Yes, there will be an adjustment, but you will come through it intact. I have every faith. So glad you're enjoying them when you can, though.

And yep, I do like the coffee table. I need new living room furniture, but have been dragging my heels. Who likes spending the money and then the hassle of moving things? Not me. :P

So glad Jeff is recovering so well! Praise God!
    Happy Sunday!
    love,
    Shani

  2. Hi, Jenn! I’m reconnecting with some of my old blogging buddies...good to ‘see’ you again here! (Thanks for staying in touch, so nice.) Can hardly believe you’re in the last stretch of homeschooling, wow. I so sympathize with the empty nest thing—I’m not there yet but of course it could happen any time and I’m treasuring our family days as they are. Glad your troops are well.

Blessings on these winter days, hope they will be filled with joys big and little! ~ Wendy

  3. YAY! You posted!! Newsy is Good! I'm so glad to hear that Jeff is back to work and doing so well, Praise God!!! He had us worried! Getting back to NORMAL must feel doubly good with him well! And I'm glad all is well with your kiddos. I'm right there with you hanging on to every moment they are home and praying that wherever they do land, that it will be fairly close to home. Who knew empty nesting would be so very hard? I still miss school, but I miss the early years, like 3rd grade, haha.

Yes, I like your new coffee table. I'm surprised the kitties aren't claiming it, hahaha! I love your pictures with a cat or two in the background of both, too cute!

Have a Great week my Friend!

  4. I think you will be OK. I'm a bit tired of homeschooling too; it's been so many years. But, yes, shh! I'm not sure when I will be done; my youngest has post concussion syndrome and when/if she can study again we'll see at what pace and how long it takes.

I like your coffee table, and your home looks peaceful and welcoming.

So happy that your hubby is OK! That must have been a tough time for you all.
